A Global Fund for Jesus Gala would not be complete without the symphonic sounds of the the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Richard Cock; and an opening worship song from the GBR Music Team.
The ever gracious Dr Sibongile Khumalo reminded us of God’s amazing grace and faithfulness with a set that moved many.
Pastor Carol Paulsen’s opening remarks were uplifting, as she introduced the ultimate Guest of Honour, Who is Jesus Christ; and honoured Him for His grace in fulfilling the mandate He bestowed unto us.
Since its launch in 2009, GBR has impacted thousands of lives around the world. Vision 2020 extends far and wide – beyond the cities!
“Come now Lord, for we are gathered in Your presence,” is the translation of the GBR national anthem, which is taken from a hymn with a history that is over a century old. As Convener of GBR Mr Sipho Mseleku reminded us in his keynote, it is an apt prayer that goes to the heart of the organisation, reminding us that every time we come together, we are gathered in His Name. An exciting first in GBR history – the hymn has now been translated into English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Swahili!
And as we model in our anthem, the mandate of GBR transcends cultures and borders, in much the same way in which its Giver had envisioned, when He declared, “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Let it be!
